If you are attending the graduation for Leilehua High School this Friday, May 23, then come and support our E.P.I.C. Ministry by making a $5 donation to get prime parking in our church parking lot for the event!

Your contributions to the E.P.I.C. Ministry will assist in raising funds for a weekend retreat in Hana in August. Additional donations are graciously accepted!

Memorial Day Lantern Floating

Join us for a special gathering at Ala Moana Beach Park on Monday, May 26, from 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM with our friends from ROL Rise Ministry for a fun day at the beach and remember those who have gone before us.

We will be setting up tents and doing a potluck for the day. So bring your rosary, sunscreen, surfboard, ukulele, guitar, cajon, beach towel, mat, and chair because we'll be hanging out the rest of the day for the lantern floating ceremony.

We'll have some structured discussion time about the ceremony itself, time to pray together, and a lot of time to just hang out.

Check the Facebook Event page at 10:00 AM on Memorial day to see a picture and description of where we set up, but know that we will try to get as close to the stage and beach as we can.

You are welcome to come any time after 10:00 AM, but do know that parking will get crazy come lunch time.

EPIC Flag Football Challenge

Getting ready for the EPIC Flag Football Challenge coming on Saturday, May 17, at the Our Lady of Sorrows School Field. This event is open to all young adults (18+ years).

SCHEDULE OF EVENT
9:00 am - Morning Prayer
9:30 am - Formation of Teams / Instructions
10:00 am - FLAG FOOTBALL BEGINS
12:00 noon - Lunch
1:00 pm - Closing Discussion / Prayer

General Rules

Games will be played with the usual rules for regular football. Below are slight changes.

TEAMS

Games will be played with 5 players on a team.
Players will be shuffled into random teams at start of tournament. (There will be opportunities to form your own teams during free play.)

GAME LENGTH AND TIMING

Game will consists of two 12-minute halves (Running Time) and a 2-min halftime break.
No overtimes until championship round.
Teams will have 1 30-second timeout per half (within the running time).
Ball must be played within 15-seconds after ball is placed by official.

GAMEPLAY

Coin toss will determine possession at start of the halves.
No kickoffs. Instead ball will be thrown to opposing team.
Ball is declared dead upon removal of flag. Spot of flag removal determines ball spot.
Flags may only be removed when player has possession of ball.
It is asked that players (especially rushers and blockers) strive for NON-CONTACT. Contact should only used when attempting a flag removal. Unnecessary contact will be penalized as unsportsmanlike conduct.

Offense:

Ball must be snapped by center to quarterback. Ball need not be passed between player’s legs.
Each teammate is eligible to receive a pass.
On fourth down, offense has the option for a protected punt. Team captain must notify official of decision to punt. Fake punts are illegal.
Runs are allowed.

Defense:

Rushing is allowed provided defense sets up 1 yard before the line of scrimmage.
Rushes on punts are illegal.

SCORING

Touchdown = 6 points (if by a male), 9 points (if by a female)
Safety = 2 points
No extra points
