A letter from OLS' Young Adult Ministry Coordinator:
Aloha,
I am very proud to be a young adult at Our Lady of Sorrows and a Catholic in this world. Over a year ago, I was asked to help this parish build a ministry that would guide young adults, like myself, closer to Christ through service, social and spiritual activities. Over the past year, I have seen this ministry grow from two young adults meeting bi-weekly to over 20 active young adults in this parish on a weekly basis.
Through events like the Thursday's Faith Sharing Group, the monthly praise and worship series An Evening with Christ, and our Youth and Young Adult Gathering masses where our young adults lead the parish in music, OLS' young adults are everywhere. Young adults participate in Religious Education, Music Ministry, Pastoral Council, Youth Ministry, Altar Serving, and so much more.
With the assistance of the YAM officers and the CORE team, we have created a work-in-progress mission statement:
Empowering young adults to follow Christ through service, social, and spiritual paths.
Our goals include:
Throughout the year, the CORE team will meet with the YAM officers to evaluate the mission and goals
There are many opportunities to become active in this parish and learn a lot about yourself and your relationship with Christ!

- Raising funds to support our mission
- Consistently increase the numbers of our active members
- Promote a Catholic lifestyle
- Network with other ministries, parishes, and organizations to serve our mission
Throughout the year, the CORE team will meet with the YAM officers to evaluate the mission and goals
- 50 active members by 2012
- become a self-sustaining ministry
