Who are we?
MISSION STATEMENT:
To empower young adults to follow Christ by service, social, and spiritual paths.
Very simply, the Our Lady of Sorrows E.P.I.C. ("Ever Present In Christ") Young Adult Ministry is a peer ministry developed to strengthen the faith and relationship of the young adults (age 18-39 years) in our parish with our Lord. The original ministry was established in 2009 by Joshua Varde Laguana and has accomplished much over the past several years both in our parish community and beyond in order to serve its mission "to empower young adults to follow Christ by service, social, and spiritual paths."

SERVICE...
Following in the footsteps of our Lord Jesus Christ to reach out to those in need, E.P.I.C. Ministry has been involved with, and coordinated, various community outreach projects including feeding the homeless, Adopt-a-Family, Adopt-a-School, and others. In addition, the ministry has coordinated various parish activities such as breakfasts on Mother's Day and Father's Day, Family Movie Night, as well as assisting with many parish social functions. The members of the Young Adult Ministry are also involved with other ministries such as the music ministry and other liturgical ministries (including as altar servers, ministers of ceremony, lectors, extraordinary ministers of holy communion, ushers, etc.), catechetical ministry, and Knights of Columbus. |

SOCIAL...
E.P.I.C. Ministry understands the importance of community building and peer bonding in order to establish deeper relationships between each other, and this is accomplished through various social events. The ministry has held BBQ's, potlucks, and other gatherings (formal and informal) such as many meals, stay-overs, as well as going hiking, beach, movies, bowling, kickball tournaments, musicals, etc. There have been game nights, "talk story" sessions, and many opportunities to just hang out and get to know one another. For those 21 years and older, relaxing nights with cocktail drinks and karaoke is not an uncommon past-time. Many of the ministry members have also become close friends who strive to hold each other accountable for their faith and spiritual development. |

SPIRITUAL...
Developing a deeper faith and connection to God, His Church, and to one another is very important to this ministry. Every Monday, E.P.I.C. Ministry meets for its weekly "Faith Sharing" which includes prayer and discussion ranging from Scripture study to catechetical and apologetic topics. The purpose of the "Faith Sharing" sessions is to help young adults connect to their faith in a more relatable, pragmatic way. The young adults also attended other events such as retreats, workshops, conferences, and speakers especially those relating to young adult ministry including the diocesan Young Adult Ministry Speaker Series, Young Adult Congress, Catechetical Formation programs, and others. With its music ministry ("InHarmony" Choir), E.P.I.C. Ministry has hosted and led praise & worship events as well as the very inspirational "Living Stations" production. |
